Everything Matched. I spoke to her over the phone. We talked about things two strangers would talk. She was a lecturer in Bangalore who felt Chemistry was more important than Hindi movies. There was no engagement. The date for marriage was fixed in 2 weeks as I could not get a vacation after that. Even the vacation time I got was just 10 days.
Everything was fixed. It was supposed to be very hectic for me. We got married and 2 days later we had to leave the country. She cried like there was no tomorrow when we left. She would not talk to me on the plane. I thought that was usual for an Indian girl. I th! ought she would get over it. Once home she would not talk to me. She sat in a corner staring at the TV. For the first couple of days I had to catch up on some work and did not take her mood seriously.

I decided to quit my job. I went home. No one back home knew I was returning. I wanted to surprise her. I dropped off my bags at my place and went to the college she was teaching. The gate keeper would not let me in. So I had to wait outside for the classes to get over.
She walked out alone, struggling to carry her bag, tired, with slow steps. She was walking towards the bus stop. I silently followed her and went behind her and whispered, "Do you mind if I carry your bag?"
She was startled and turned to face me. Her eyes lit up. I was not sure if I could hug her. I was smiling and she had 100 questions written all over her face. "I want to spend a week with you in this city. Show me the things that you could not miss"
That one week went in a jiffy. She was treated a kid at home with all the comforts. That explained her behavior. Coffee was brought to her in the morning. Even her dress was laid out for her. She would have breakfast and leave. The bus journey was an hour. She would sit near the window with a book. Then once in the college she would teach her classes and come out tired in the evening. Then she would visit the temple in the evening and would have her singing lessons. Then she would eat out and would head home late. That was her life. It was something every human being wanted - simple, content and happy. Of course to her I was a villain. I told her that I understood her. I wanted to know if it was ok if she stayed in the same city but away from her parents. Her only condition was that I should not stay at my parent's place to which I agreed.
So we moved into a small apartment. She knew nothing. She had to be taught everything. She learnt. It was hard to make her understand that she had duties and she had a husband. Coffee had to be brought to her in the morning. She made the rules and broke them. She did not care for me. Sometimes she would not return home but go to her parents' place without informing me. I would have had to go bring her back.
Slowly she started realizing about married life. My name is Nick Vujicic and I was born without limbs and doctors have no medical explanation for this birth 'defect'. As you can imagine, I was faced with many challenges and obstacles.
Their firstborn son had been born without limbs! There were no warnings or time to prepare themselves for it... The doctors were shocked and had no answers at all! There is still no medical reason why this had happened and Nick now has a Brother and Sister who were born just like any other baby.

I am now twenty-three years old and have completed a Bachelor of Commerce majoring in Financial Planning and Accounting. I am also a motivational speaker and love to go out and share my story and testimony wherever opportunities become available. I have developed talks to relate to and encourage students through topics that challenge today's teenagers. I am also a speaker in the corporate sector.

NEED WASHING??
A little girl had been shopping with her Mom in Target. She must have been
6 years old, this beautiful red haired, freckle faced image of innocence. It
was pouring outside. The kind of rain that gushes over the top of rain
gutters, so much in a hurry to hit the earth it has no time to flow down the
spout. We all stood there under the awning and just inside the door of the
Target.
We waited, some patiently, others irritated because nature messed up their
hurried day. I am always mesmerized by rainfall. I got lost in the sound and
sight of the heavens washing away the dirt and dust of the world. Memories
of running, splashing so carefree as a child came pouring in as a welcome
reprieve from the worries of my day.
The little voice was so sweet as it broke the hypnotic trance we were all
caught in 'Mom let's run through the rain,' she said.
'What?' Mom asked.
'Lets run through the rain!' She repeated.
'No, honey. We'll wait until it slows down a bit,' Mom replied.
This young child waited about another minute and repeated: 'Mom, let's run
through the rain,'
'We'll get soaked if we do,' Mom said.
'No, we won't, Mom. That's not what you said this morning,' the young girl
said as she tugged at her Mom's arm.
This morning? When did I say we could run through the rain and not get wet?
'Don't you remember? When you were talking to Daddy about his cancer, you said, 'If God can get us through this, he can get us through anything!'
The entire crowd stopped dead silent. I swear you couldn't hear anything but the rain. We all stood silently. No one came or left in the next few minutes.
Mom paused and thought for a moment about what she would say. Now some would laugh it off and scold her for being silly. Some might even ignore what was said. But this was a moment of affirmation in a young child's life.
A time when innocent trust can be nurtured so that it will bloom into faith.
'Honey, you are absolutely right. Let's run through the rain. If GOD let's us get wet, well maybe we just needed washing,' Mom said.
Then off they ran. We all stood watching, smiling and laughing as they darted past the cars and yes, through the puddles. They held their shopping bags over their heads just in case. They got soaked. But they were followed
by a few who screamed and laughed like children all the way to their cars.
And yes, I did. I ran. I got wet. I needed washing.
Circumstances or people can take away your material possessions, they can take away your money, and they can take away your health. But no one can ever take away your precious memories...So, don't forget to make time and take the opportunities to make memories everyday. To everything there is a
season and a time to every purpose under heaven.
I HOPE YOU STILL TAKE THE TIME TO RUN THROUGH THE RAIN.
They say it takes a minute to find a special person, an hour to appreciate them, a day to love them, but then an entire life to forget them. Send this to the people you'll never forget and remember to also send it to the person who sent it to you. It's a short message to let them know that you'll never forget them.

Smart’ contact lens to monitor diseases
Researchers have developed a contact lens with a built-in pressure sensor that could help monitor conditions such as glaucoma.
Glaucoma is an eye disease that damages the optic nerve and impairs vision, sometimes progressing to blindness.
The device is based on a new technique, which can embed conducting circuits in the organic polymer traditionally used to make contact lenses.
Polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) is an elastic, transparent and gas-permeable organic polymer that can be castmoulded into a range of simple shapes.
It is used in everything from contact lenses to breast implants, but the process of cast-moulding severely limits the kinds of structures that can be made with the material.
Now, Hailin Cong and Tingrui Pan from the University of California, Davis, have come up with a simple method to produce PDMS components without the need for casting moulds – and their process can also make the material conduct electricity.
HOW IT WORKS
The researchers added a chemical to a liquid PDMS solution that causes the mixture to set, or polymerise, when zapped with UV light.
Then, they exposed the mixture to UV light through a mask containing a circuit pattern.
Only the areas hit by the light polymerise and any remaining liquid can be washed away, leaving an imprint of the circuit.
“The technique can be used to create features just 10 micrometres in size,” the researchers said.
The scientists also developed a technique to give the polymer another property – electrical conductivity – by adding a solution of silver to the mix. The silver then becomes trapped in the material when it polymerises, creating a path along which electrons can pass.
Since the resistance of the path changes as the material is stretched, the modified PDMS is suitable for a range of micro-sized electromechanical systems.
KEEPING AN EYE ON DISEASES
One of the first devices that the researchers have produced is a tiny pressure sensor, which they bent into the shape of a contact lens.
Pan said that such a device could measure the stress on the cornea surface and the fluid pressure within the eye to monitor glaucoma and ocular hypertension.
“The eye always has a certain pressure, which is why the eyeball is a sphere,” New Scientist quoted Pan as saying. In glaucoma patients, that pressure rises and changes the eye’s shape, which would deform the contact lens sensor.
“The change in configuration will alter the resistance and give a different electrical reading,” Pan said.
The prototype has an opaque sensor that would impair vision and so would be worn only briefly, but researchers are designing transparent equivalents that could be worn for long periods to give a continuous pressure read-out.
The device also contains a small RFID tag to read the data wirelessly.
“The new way of manufacturing PDMS can be significantly useful for biological sensing systems,” Pan said. ANI

It was in Pune that I met Narayan Murty through my friend Prasanna who is now the Wipro chief, who was also training in Telco(TataMotors). Most of the books that Prasanna lent me had Murty's name on them which meant that I had a preconceived image of the man. Contrary to expectation, Murty was shy,bespectacled and an introvert. When he invited us for dinner. I was a bit taken aback as I thought the young man was making a very fast move. I refused since I was the only girl in the group. But Murty was relentless and we all decided to meet for dinner the next day at 7.30 p.m .. at Green Fields hotel on the
Main Road
,Pune.
The next day I went there at 7' o ! clock since I had to go to the tailor near the hotel. And what do I see? Mr. Murty waiting in front of the hotel and it was only seven. Till today, Murty maintains that I had mentioned (consciously!) that I would be going to the tailor at 7 so that I could meet him... And I maintain that I did not say any such thing consciously or unconsciously because I did not think of Murty as anything other than a friend at that stage. We have agreed to disagree on this matter.

It was coming. He said, I am 5'4" tall. I come from a lower middle class family. I can never become rich in my life an! d I can never give you any riches. You are beautiful, bright, and intelligent and you can get anyone you want. But will you marry me? I asked Murty to give me some time for an answer. My father didn't want me to marry a wannabe politician, (a communist at that) who didn't have a steady job and wanted to build an orphanage...
When I went to Hubli I told my parents about Murty and his proposal. My mother was positive since Murty was also from Karnataka, seemed intelligent and comes from a good family. But my father asked: What's his job, his salary, his qualifications etc? Murty was working as a research assistant and was earning less than me. He was willing to go dutch with me on our outings. My parents agreed to meet Murty in Pune on a particular day at10 a. m sharp. Murty did not turn up. How can I trust a man to take care of my daughter if he cannot keep an appointment, asked my father.
At 12noon Murty turned up in a bright red shirt! He had gone on work to Bombay , was stuck in a traffic jam on the ghats, so he hired a taxi(though it was very expensive for him) to meet his would-be father-in-law. Father was unimpressed. My father asked him what he wanted to become in life.
Murty said he wanted to become a politician in the communist party and wanted to open an orphanage. My father gave his verdict. NO. I don't want my daughter to marry somebody who wants to become a communist and then open an orphanage when he himself didn't have money to support his family.
Ironically, today, I have opened many orphanages something, which Murty wanted to do 25 years ago. By this time I realized I had developed a liking towards Murty which could only be termed as love. I wanted to marry Murty because he is an honest man. He proposed to me highlighting the negatives in his life. I promised my father that I will not marry Murty without his blessings though at the same time, I cannot marry anybody else. My father said he would agree if Murty promised to take up a steady job. But Murty refused saying he will not do things in life because somebody wanted him to. So, I was caught between the two most important people in my life..
The stalemate continued for three years during which our courtship took us to every restaurant and cinema hall in Pune. In those days, Murty was always broke. Moreover, he didn't earn much to manage. Ironically today, he manages Infosys Technologies Ltd., one of the world's most reputed companies. He always owed me money. We used to go for dinner and he would say, I don't have money with me, you pay my share, I will return it to you later. For three years I maintained a book on Murty's debt to me.. No, he never returned the money and I finally tore it up after my wedding.
The amount was a little over Rs 4000. During this interim period Murty quit his job as research assistant and started his own software business. Now, I had to pay his salary too! Towards the late 70s computers were entering India in a big way.
During the fag end of 1977 Murty decided to take up a job as General Manager at Patni computers in Bombay .. But before he joined the company he wanted to marry me since he was to go on training to the US after joining. My father gave in as he was happy Murty had a decent job, now.
WE WERE MARRIED IN MURTY'S HOUSE IN BANGALORE ON FEBRUARY 10, 1978 WITH ONLY OUR TWO FAMILIES PRESENT.I GOT MY FIRST SILK SARI. THE WEDDING EXPENSES CAME TO ONLY RS 800 (US $17) WITH MURTY AND I POOLING IN RS 400 EACH.
I went to the US with Murty after marriage. Murty encouraged me to see America on my own because I loved travelling. I toured America for three months on backpack and had interesting experiences which will remain fresh in my mind forever. Like the time when the New York police took me into custody because they thought I was an Italian trafficking drugs in Harlem . Or the time when I spent the night at the bottom of the Grand Canyon with an old couple. Murty panicked because he couldn't get a response from my hotel room even at midnight. He thought I was either killed or kidnapped.
IN 1981 MURTY WANTED TO START INFOSYS. HE HAD A VISION AND ZERO CAPITAL...initially I was very apprehensive about Murty getting into business. We did not have any business background ... Moreover we were living a comfortable life in Bombay with a regular pay check and I didn't want to rock the boat. But Murty was passionate about creating good quality software. I decided to support him.. Typical of Murty, he just had a dream and no money. So I gave him Rs 10,000 which I had saved for a rainy day, without his knowledge and told him, This is all I have. Take it. I give you three years sabbatical leave. I will take care of the
financial needs of our house. You go and chase your dreams without any worry. But you
have only three years!
Murty and his six colleagues started Infosys in 1981,with enormous interest and hard work. In 1982 I left Telco and moved to Pune with Murty. We bought a small house on loan which also became the Infosys office. I was a clerk-cum-cook-cum-programmer. I also took up a job as Senior Systems Analyst with Walchand group of Industries to support the house.
In 1983 Infosys got their first client, MICO, in Bangalore . Murty moved to Bangalore and stayed with his mother while I went to Hubli to deliver my second child, Rohan. Ten days after my son was born, Murty left for the US on project work. I saw him only after a year, as I was unable to join Murty in the US because my son had infantile eczema, an allergy to vaccinations. So for more than a year I did not step outside our home for fear of my son contracting an infection. It was only after Rohan got all his vaccinations that I came to Bangalore where we rented a small house in Jayanagar and rented another house as Infosys headquarters. My father
presented Murty a scooter to commute. I once again became a cook, programmer, clerk,
secretary, office assistant etc al. Nandan Nilekani (MD of Infosys) and his wife Rohini stayed with us. While Rohini babysat my son, I wrote programs for Infosys. There was no car, no phone, and just two kids and a bunch of us working hard, juggling our lives and having fun while Infosys was taking shape. It was not only me but also the wives of other partners too who gave their unstinted support. We all knew that our men were trying to build something good.
It was like a big joint family,taking care and looking out for one another. I still remember Sudha Gopalakrishna looking after my daughter Akshata with all care and love while Kumari Shibulal cooked for all of us. Murty made it very clear that it would either be me or him working at Infosys. Never the two of us together... I was involved with Infosys initially.
Nandan Nilekani suggested I should be on the Board but Murty said he did not want a husband and wife team at Infosys. I was shocked since I had the relevant experience and technical qualifications. He said, Sudha if you want to work with Infosys, I will withdraw, happily. I was pained to know that I will not be involved in the company my husband was building and that I would have to give up a job that I am qualified to do and love doing.
It took me a couple of days to grasp the reason behind Murty's request..I realized that to make Infosys a success one had to give one's 100 percent.. One had to be focussed on it alone with no other distractions. If the two of us had to give 100 percent to Infosys then what would happen to our home and our children? One of us had to take care of our home while the other took care of Infosys.
I opted to be a homemaker, after all Infosys was Murty's dream. It was a big sacrifice but it was one that had to be made. Even today, Murty says, Sudha, I stepped on your career to make mine. You are responsible for my success...

It was in Pune that I met Narayan Murty through my friend Prasanna who is now the Wipro chief, who was also training in Telco(TataMotors). Most of the books that Prasanna lent me had Murty's name on them which meant that I had a preconceived image of the man. Contrary to expectation, Murty was shy,bespectacled and an introvert. When he invited us for dinner. I was a bit taken aback as I thought the young man was making a very fast move. I refused since I was the only girl in the group. But Murty was relentless and we all decided to meet for dinner the next day at 7.30 p.m .. at Green Fields hotel on the
Main Road
,Pune.
The next day I went there at 7' o ! clock since I had to go to the tailor near the hotel. And what do I see? Mr. Murty waiting in front of the hotel and it was only seven. Till today, Murty maintains that I had mentioned (consciously!) that I would be going to the tailor at 7 so that I could meet him... And I maintain that I did not say any such thing consciously or unconsciously because I did not think of Murty as anything other than a friend at that stage. We have agreed to disagree on this matter.

These will help create bulging arm muscles.
BICEP CURL
Use a (full) can of cola in each arm for these. And the good bit is that this exercise is just as effective sitting or standing - so it can easily be done from the comfort of your sofa.
How to do it:
• Hold your 'weights' down by your sides with your palms facing upwards. Without moving the upper part of your arms slowly bend your arms and bring the weights up to the shoulders.
• Return the weight back to the starting position, keeping the movement slow. Repeat as many times as you feel comfortable.
Challenge yourself:
Use a larger cola can size to make it harder.
TRICEP CURL
Use cola cans or baked beans for weights to do this one.
How to do it:
• Stand with one foot slightly in front of the other and with your knees slightly bent.
• With your weight in one hand, keep your upper arm in line with your body and bend your arm forward 90 degrees.
• Then, keeping the upper half of your weight arm by your side, straighten your elbow out behind you. Hold for three seconds, then slowly bend back into the starting position. Repeat five times, and switch arms.
Challenge yourself:
For a more strenuous workout, straighten and bend your arm extra slowly.
ABS
These moves with a pizza box can help to create a sexy six-pack.
ALTERNATING SIT-UPS
Balance a pizza box on your knees for this move to stop your legs moving - and provide some extra motivation!
How to do it:
• Lie flat on your back with your knees bent. Put your hands behind your ears and sit up aiming your left elbow at your right knee.
• Next sit up again but this time aim your right elbow to your left knee. Continue in an alternating pattern.
Challenge yourself:
Lie on a home gym ball to intensify these moves.
LEG LIFTS
These are tough to start with but do get easier.
How to do it:
• Lie flat on your back and lift your legs into the air so that they are as close to 90 degrees from the floor as possible.
• Lower your legs a little and hold for a count of 10, then lower a bit more and hold again for 10. Then lower them till they are almost touching the floor and hold again.
• Finally, bring your legs up to your chest and rest. Repeat five times.
Challenge yourself:
Hold each position for 20 seconds.
LEGS
These will help you to beef-up chicken legs!
STATIONARY SEAT
Any clear piece of wall can be used for this.
How to do it:
• Push your back against the wall and slide down until you are in a sitting position. Hold for 30 seconds.
• Repeat 12 times then rest for 30 seconds before doing two more sets of 12.

Try without the wall for maximum toning.
POWER LUNGS
These can be done in front of your TV set.
How to do it:
• Stand with your feet apart and knees bent. Step forwards so your leg is one stride from the back foot.
• As you do so lower your body down, then spring back to your starting position, pushing through the heel of your forward foot.
• Then repeat on the other side. Aim for 30 repetitions.
Challenge yourself:
Make it more of a challenge by holding heavy cans of beer in each hand.

How to do it:
• Hold your 'weights' down by your sides with your palms facing upwards. Without moving the upper part of your arms slowly bend your arms and bring the weights up to the shoulders.
• Return the weight back to the starting position, keeping the movement slow. Repeat as many times as you feel comfortable.
Challenge yourself:
Use a larger cola can size to make it harder.
TRICEP CURL
Use cola cans or baked beans for weights to do this one.
How to do it:
• Stand with one foot slightly in front of the other and with your knees slightly bent.
• With your weight in one hand, keep your upper arm in line with your body and bend your arm forward 90 degrees.
• Then, keeping the upper half of your weight arm by your side, straighten your elbow out behind you. Hold for three seconds, then slowly bend back into the starting position. Repeat five times, and switch arms.
Challenge yourself:
For a more strenuous workout, straighten and bend your arm extra slowly.
ABS
These moves with a pizza box can help to create a sexy six-pack.
ALTERNATING SIT-UPS
Balance a pizza box on your knees for this move to stop your legs moving - and provide some extra motivation!
How to do it:
• Lie flat on your back with your knees bent. Put your hands behind your ears and sit up aiming your left elbow at your right knee.
• Next sit up again but this time aim your right elbow to your left knee. Continue in an alternating pattern.
Challenge yourself:
Lie on a home gym ball to intensify these moves.
LEG LIFTS
These are tough to start with but do get easier.
How to do it:
• Lie flat on your back and lift your legs into the air so that they are as close to 90 degrees from the floor as possible.
• Lower your legs a little and hold for a count of 10, then lower a bit more and hold again for 10. Then lower them till they are almost touching the floor and hold again.
• Finally, bring your legs up to your chest and rest. Repeat five times.
Challenge yourself:
Hold each position for 20 seconds.
LEGS

STATIONARY SEAT
Any clear piece of wall can be used for this.
How to do it:
• Push your back against the wall and slide down until you are in a sitting position. Hold for 30 seconds.

POWER LUNGS
These can be done in front of your TV set.
How to do it:
• Stand with your feet apart and knees bent. Step forwards so your leg is one stride from the back foot.
• As you do so lower your body down, then spring back to your starting position, pushing through the heel of your forward foot.
• Then repeat on the other side. Aim for 30 repetitions.
Challenge yourself:
Make it more of a challenge by holding heavy cans of beer in each hand.

If you thought watermelon is just a fruit that refreshes parched throats, here’s something you should know: The juicy fruit has ingredients that deliver Viagra-like effects to the body’s blood vessels and may even increase libido, said a new study by a US-based researcher.
“The more we study watermelons, the more we realise just how amazing a fruit it is in providing natural enhancers to the human body,” said the study’s leader Dr Bhimu Patil, director of Texas A and M’s Fruit and Vegetable Improvement Centre in College Station.
“We’ve always known that watermelon is good for you, but the list of its very important healthful benefits grows longer with each study,” he added.
Watermelons contain a nutrient called citrulline, which gets converted to arginine when consumed. Arginine is an amino acid that works wonders on the heart and circulation system and maintains a good immune system, Patil said.
“The citrulline-arginine relationship helps heart health, the immune system and may prove to be very helpful for those who suffer from obesity and type 2 diabetes,” said Patil.
“Arginine boosts nitric oxide, which relaxes blood vessels – the same basic effect that Viagra has – to treat erectile dysfunction and maybe even prevent it,” he added.
While there are many psychological and physiological problems that can cause impotence, extra nitric oxide could help increase blood flow, which would also help treat angina, high blood pressure and other cardiovascular problems.
